(ĐN) – Chairman Kadowaki Keiichi of the Japanese Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City on May 31 had a working session with Dong Nai provincial authorities to extricate difficulties and boost cooperation among domestic and Japanese enterprises to supply products to one another to reduce imports.

Speaking at the session, Vice Chairman Tran  Van Vinh of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee said Japan ranks third among countries and territories investing in the province with total investment of nearly US$4 billion.

Japanese firms have always strictly obeyed Vietnam’s legal regulations and implemented effectively policies on environment, tax and customs, and particularly those for workers, he said.

On his part, Mr Kadowaki Keiichi stressed that Japanese enterprises are now facing difficulties in paying social insurance premiums for their Japanese employees. According to new Decree on Social Insurance, which comes into force on June 1 this year, foreign workers in Vietnam would be required to pay premiums for three among five social insurance regimes. However, some Japanese workers have paid their premiums in Japan where their parent companies located in. Therefore, he proposed local authorities consider helping these workers not pay social insurance premiums in Vietnam.
