Dong Nai to become sub-region's urban center

(ĐN)- The Government has approved an adjusted construction master plan for the HCM city region to 2030 with a vision to 2050, with the aim of developing the region into a major Southeast Asian centre for culture, education and training, science and technology, and healthcare.

 

(ĐN)- The Government has approved an adjusted construction master plan for the HCM city region to 2030 with a vision to 2050, with the aim of developing the region into a major Southeast Asian centre for culture, education and training, science and technology, and healthcare.

The region includes HCM city and its seven neighboring localities including Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long an, Dong Nai and Tien Giang, covering a total area of about 30,404 square km. By 2030, the region’s population may reach 24-25 million, including 18-19 million living in urban areas and 6-7 million living in rural areas.

Under the plan, Bien Hoa city in Dong Nai province will become HCM city’s center for traffic, logistics; the region’s center for supplying high quality multi-field services, urban services and a center for researching and transferring science-technology, trading and finance.

Meanwhile, Nhon Trach will become second-grade urban area. Long Thanh and Trang Bom district will be developed to become third-grade urban areas.
