The pig price in Dong Nai Province has improved to VND29,000 per kilo in the last two days after a long time of steep decline, said Vo Kim Doan, deputy chairman of Dong Nai Province’s pig farmers association.
He said a major foreign-invested enterprise, which is a dominant player on the pig market, set the price at VND29,000 per kg on Monday, thus supporting this price spike. Last week the price was as low as VND24,000-26,000.
The price rise may continue in the next few days, reaching VND30,000-32,000 per kg, Doan said.
In Long An Province, the pig price remains at VND30,000 per kg, said Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh, deputy director of Long An Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The price has stayed the same for more than a month. Besides domestic consumption, pigs raised in Long An are exported to Cambodia.
At Hoc Mon farm produce wholesale market, pigs have marked up in price in the last two days, at VND28,000-29,000 per kg. About 6,000 pigs are transported to the market a day, with the price of type-one and type-two pork quoted at VND40,000 and VND34,000 respectively.
