Addressing at the conference, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Chanh stressed that Dong Nai is one of the provinces which leads in strictly executing lines and policies in environment protection and installing automatic monitoring systems at local industrial parks.

The monitoring systems have helped the province monitor the sources of wastewater. As a result, pollution hotspots like the Thi Vai River and the lower section of the Dong Nai River have become safer.

Ten firms that discharge more than 1,000 cu m of wastewater per day have to install a wastewater monitoring system by the end of May before September 30, he added.

In the coming time, the province will request firms that discharge more than 200 cu m of wastewater per day to install automated observation stations to monitor wastewater and transmit observation data to the province's Department of Natural Resources and Environment to control waste water.

So far, Dong Nai has set up 21 automated observation stations at local industrial parks which connect to a centre at the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Statistics of environment quality will be sent to the centre, helping monitoring work.
