At a meeting on March 13 in Hanoi, he suggested that each ministry and sector should send one or two representatives to the group as experts, not management officials.
Within 10 days, the group should submit a report on the discussions and a proposal for the most suitable selection, which will serve as a reference for Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to make the final decision, he asked.
He also said that Long Thanh airport is an important national project with huge State investment.
It must fufill important criteria in function and effectiveness, while being low cost, saving energy, and meeting environmental friendly standards, he said.
Earlier, three outstanding designs out of nine proposals were chosen, including one in the shape of a lotus flower (LT-03) submitted by a Republic of Korea company.
A design from a Vietnam-Japan-Singapore joint venture features coconut tree details (LT-07), while the other designed by a Japan-France joint venture uses bamboo furniture (LT-04).
According to the Ministry of Transport, LT-03 won the most public and trade association votes, while the majority of visitors to the ministry’s website chose LT-07.
