The project was kicked off in 2016 and provided support to local farmers in piloting the intercropping cocoa with cashew in an area of 10,000 hectares in 3 communes of An Vien, Dong Hoa and Song Trau. According to the initial evaluation, this modal has proved effective.
As planned, Bamboo Capital will help local farmers to make gardens for modeling the intercropping cocoa to introduce and provide techniques for cocoa farmers. The project is expected to develop additional 111 hectares of cocoa trees in cashew gardens, attracting the participation of 55 farmer households in the district. Farmers will be supported with 50 percent of costs for buying seedlings, 30 percent of costs for installing water saving systems, training courses on cultivation techniques, etc.
Also at the seminar, farmers were cleared up queries on preferential policies when participating the project, including investing in building infrastructure, incentives in loans, policies in purchasing cocoa products.
