(ĐN)- Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on Jan 13 held a meeting to review its activities in 2016 and discussed plans for 2017. Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of the provincial People’s Committee attended the event.
Dong Nai is now leading the country in new rural area construction with 113 out of 133 communes recognized as new rural areas.
In 2016, although facing many difficulties, the province’s agriculture - forestry - fishery sector still reported a year on year increase of nearly 4 percent at more than VND29.6 billion. The province also approved six large field projects with a total area of over 5.5 hectares.
In 2017, the agricultural sector will continue efforts to realise the sector’s growth target of 4 percent, provide clean water to rural people, develop collective economy and build new rural areas.
Accordingly, it will focus on building safe and effective agricultural production models, further develop hi-tech agriculture, foster exports and promote links between production and consumption.
