(ĐN)- The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) yesterday held a ceremony for connecting final segment of a bridge across the Cha River in Can Gio district, HCM city, which is part of the construction package J2 of the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway project.
The bridge measures 5km long and 20m wide. The construction package costs over 1.4 billion Japanese yens and VND2.4 trillion in counter capital from Vietnamese Government.
Construction the concrete bridge began on October, 2014 and is completed 4 months earlier than the schedule. It is constructed by a joint venture between Japanese-invested Sumitomo Mitsui Company and Vietnam’s Construction Corporation 4 under the counseling and supervision of KEI-NE-OC-TEDI joint venture.
The Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway project has an investment capital of 31.3 trillion VND (1.6 billion) for phase I. The investment includes loans of US$635 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and US$635 million from Japan, the rest comes from the State budget.
The expressway is expected to facilitate transport between eastern and western parts of southern Vietnam, helping to reduce traffic congestion on the current National Highway 1 in Ho Chi Minh Chi and National Highway 51 in Dong Nai.
