(ĐN)- According to Dong Nai provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province's pig herd has reached nearly 1.8 million, a year-on-year increase of 4 percent.
The province’s pig herd has increased within 3 years since 2013 due to the high prices of pigs in the market.
Presently, farmers in the province supply more than 6,000 pigs every day to the market. The main market of Dong Nai’s pigs is China, accounting 60-70% of the total live pigs.
The province currently has the largest pig herd in the country. Nearly 70% of the pigs are being raised under concentrated farming model. The province is building large breeding zones which can help farmers ensure the epidemic diseases control and prevention.
