Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Phu Cuong briefed the consul general on the province’s socio-economic situation and potentials, adding Dong Nai hoped that Indian businesses would increase investment in Dong Nai in many fields.
Ms. Smita Pant stressed that India has invested US$40 billion in ASEAN countries, while only US$1 billion were poured into Vietnam because of their lack of information about the country. She suggested Dong Nai to organize conferences to introduce the province’s potentials, investment policies, the fields that the province is giving investment priorities, helping Indian businesses to learn and increase investment in Dong Nai.
The Consul General also said that many Indian businesses are seeking investment opportunities in the fields of information technology, hi-tech workforce training, industry and education. More than 30 businesses from India engaging in information technology field will visit Vietnam in July this year, and Dong Nai will be one of their destinations to seek investment opportunities, she added.
Receiving the Consul General, Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai stressed that Dong Nai is calling foreign investment in the fields of hi-tech industry, green technology. Indian businesses have strengths in information technology, thus Dong Nai hopes them to invest in this field. Currently, Dong Nai is home to 2 Indian projects capitalized US$3.6 million, he said.
