(ĐN)- In the first quarter of the year, local enterprises exported more than 5,100 tonnes of cashew nut worth US$38.3 million, a year-on-year decrease of 40 percent in volume and 35 percent in value, reported Dong Nai Statistics Department.

In March only, the province’s cashew nuts export reached nearly 1,400 tons with a US$10.4 million turnover, a slight increase compared to February.

According to cashew processors, the import price of raw nut materials from other countries has also gone up significantly, while export prices had not increased. Enterprises, as a result, have not been buying input materials for fear of losses.

The EU, US and China are the province’s largest importers of cashew nuts.
