The seminar attracted over 100 Japanese and Vietnamese firms which are investing in the agricultural sector and representatives of the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province.

At the seminar, representatives of the Japanese companies said they would boost investment and co-operation in the agricultural sector in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and the Central Highlands of Lam Dong.

The Japanese firms also pledged to support their partners in the Mekong Delta in applying high-technology in agriculture production while helping regional provinces to renovate agricultural system in line with each locality’s conditions.

Participants at the seminar also highlighted the strength in agricultural development of Vietnam as well as the great potential of agricultural co-operation between the two countries.

In 2015, Vietnam and Japan signed a medium-and long-term vision on agricultural co-operation to further enhance bilateral ties. Japan also began to open its doors to imports of Cat Chu mango as well as other vegetables from Vietnam.
