(ĐN)- According to Dong Nai provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province's pig herd has reached nearly 1.6 million, over 100,000 pigs higher the same period in 2014.
Of the figure, 67.5% of the total pigs are being raised at more than 2,200 local farms and over 32.5% are being raised at local breeding households.
The rise is attributable to price increases over the past three year, encouraging farmers to expand their operations.
Presently, the province has the largest pig herd in the country. Raising pigs under concentrated farm model helps farmers ensure the epidemic diseases control and prevention, apply advanced science and technology to increase the productivity and low the prices.
