The first construction package J2 of the project is being built with a bridge crossing Cha river and a viaduct connecting two Binh Khanh and Phuoc Khanh suspension bridges.
The project has an investment capital of 31.3 trillion VND (1.6 billion) for phase I. The investment includes loans of US$635 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and US$635 million from Japan, the rest comes from the State budget.
The road is expected to facilitate transport between eastern and western parts of southern Vietnam, helping to reduce traffic congestion on the current National Highway 1 in Ho Chi Minh Chi and National Highway 51 in Dong Nai.
