Presently, the province has areas specializing in growing corn, mango, pepper, rambutan, etc and large-scale pig and chicken farms. The annual average income per capita in rural areas is estimated at over VND32 million.
Currently, the province has more than 1.2 million pigs and 12 million chickens. It is home to nearly 3,000 farms, 56 percent of the total has been recognized as free of disease.
Dong Nai is among the top food purveyors in the south of Vietnam with 60-70 percent of its pigs and chickens sold in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.
