JICA’s representative said that the project enhance the capacity of water environment management in river basins will be implemented in Dong Nai River basin in Southern region and Cau River basin in the northern region.
Representative of the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment briefed the delegation on some main features of Dong Nai river, saying that, everyday, aound 190,000m3 of household waste water and nearly 140,000m3 of industrial waste water the river are poured in to the river.
Dong Nai has carried out the first phase of the project building waste water treatment system in Bien Hoa city with the daily capacity of 9,000m3. The province also works closely with neighboring provinces to increase the role of State agencies’ management in water, mineral resources as well as protecting water environment in Dong Nai River basin.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Phu Cuong pledged to offer utmost support for the project and suggested JICA to help the province implement evaluation on the burden capacity of rivers, streams and canals in Dong Nai river basin.
