Tran Gia to supply 40 tones of Chung cake during Tet

(ĐN)- Tran Thanh Toan, the owner of Tran Gia- a producer of Chung cake in Bien Hoa city, revealed that his establishment will provide 400 tonnes of Chung cake to domestic market during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

According to him, Tran Gia will also export around 60 tonnes of the cake and “Dong” (phrynium) leaves (used to wrap the cake) to the US, Australia, Canada, and several Asian countries on this occasion.

Chung cake is an integral part of the lunar New Year celebration. It is made from glutinous rice, pork and green bean paste, and then wrapped in “dong” leaves, which give the rice a green tint after being boiled for ten hours.

The vacuum-packed cakes can keep for two weeks under normal temperature.

Presently, Tran Gia Chung cakes are being sold at supermarkets of Big C, Co.op Mart, Vinatex Mart, Lotte Mart, Metro, Aeon, etc.
