Petrol prices drop for first time in 2015

The retail price of petrol has seen its first cut in 2015, slashed by VND310 per litre as of 16:30 on January 6, announced the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex).

After the reduction, the new retail prices for RON92 and biofuel E5 are VND17,570 per litre.

In the meantime, a litre of diesel and kerosene were cut by VND360 and VND290 to VND16,630 and VND17,110, respectively.

The Ministry of Finance has decided to raise import duties on petroleum products by 8%, and by 7% and 9% respectively for diesel and kerosene. Thus, the new rates for petrol and kerosene are now at 35%.

In 2014, petrol prices were increased five times and cut twelve times since July with a total reduction of VND7,769 per litre.
