(ĐN)- From January to September, although Vietnam saw decline in FDI attraction because of global economic downturn, Dong Nai province still managed to achieve good and stable results. Most new projects focus on high-tech technologies and support industries which are in line with the province’s investment direction.

Particularly, Dong Nai  has lured approximately US$1.2 billion of direct foreign investment (FDI) in the first nine months of this year, ranking third among provinces and cities in the country.

According to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, of the total, nearly US$421 million was poured into 59 new projects, while the remaining was added for 58 existing ones. Japan was the province's leading FDI source with 35 projects, followed by the Republic of Korea with 17 projects.

The biggest projects included US$80 million project of Volcafe Vietnam, Kuk II VN, Tayca VN, KYC Machine Industry VN, Kyodo Printing, etc.

Japanese Consul General in HCM city Nakajima Satoshi highlighted Dong Nai has been an attractive destination to Japanese investors because its industrial parks have complete infrastructure and smooth transport systems; most of Japanese enterprises operating in Dong Nai gained successes in their business. In the coming time, he will continue to call on more Japanese investors to the province.

Mr Imamura Tomofumi, Chairman of the Japanese Business Association in Dong Nai, said that the province has bettered the quality of public administration services while caring for the need of businesses operating in local industrial parks, thus advertising the province’s investment environment.

To achieve such outcome, Dong Nai has regularly streamlined its administrative procedures and well performed the “one-door” mechanism. Meanwhile, the provincial authorities has renovated investment promotion activities, organised meetings to call for investment both at home and abroad. Moreover, the province is persistent with the working principle “government accompanies businesses" and investors are supported from the time they first come to the province to the time they put their projects into operations. The provincial leaders are ready to listen to investors’ feedback to provide solutions to their problems.

Director Bo Ngoc Thu of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment said the province selectively licenses investment projects, with priority given to those using advanced, environmentally-friendly technologies, manufacturing industrial parts, providing services and investing in infrastructure.
