The event was attended by Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, Standing Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai provincial Party Committee Le Hong Phuong, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Tran Van Tu, leaders of ministries, branches and Can Tho city.
The section, running through the provinces of Kien Giang and An Giang, will be 11 meters wide and 28 kilometres long with two vehicle lanes. It is part of a transport project linking with Cambodia.
The Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project worth VND1,588 billion is invested by a joint venture between Sonadezi and Cuong Thuan Idico. It is expected to be completed by 2015 to shorten travel distance for goods and passengers between Can Tho, An Giang and Kien Giang.
