(ĐN)- Many retailers in Dong Nai hiked milk selling prices of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) products by 8-10% from February 10.
The rise was due to Vinamilk had announced to hike prices of its products following the footsteps of Abbott and Mead Johnson which had raised their milk products by 6-10%.
Nguyen Thi Quynh Trang, head of public relations at Vinamilk, told Dong Nai Newspaper that the firm kept its prices unchanged throughout 2013.
However, higher input material prices since early this year have made the firm increase its products by 6%, taking effect on Monday, which can help Vinamilk offset a fraction of an increase in production cost, she added.
Meanwhile, Coopmart supermarket in Bien Hoa city will maintain Vinamilk products, for the supermarket had signed contracts to purchase the products before the price hike, said Director of Coopmart Bien Hoa supermarket company Nguyen Thi Hong Khanh.
