Neighboring Binh Duong province starts construction of its new city

(ĐN)- Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday attended a ceremony held by Binh Duong, the neighboring province of Dong Nai, to mark the opening of the Centralized Administration Centre and the start of construction of Binh Duong New City.

Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai provincial Party Committee Le Hong Phuong also attended the event.

Binh Duong New City covers an area of 1,000 hectares and is located in the 4,196-ha Binh Duong industrial, urban, and service complex.

The city will be developed into a modern urban area and Binh Duong city's central business district by 2020 under a Government master plan.

At the ceremony, the province also inaugurated and put into operation the Centralized Administration Centre, which comprises twin towers 104 meters high, has 21 storeys for offices and two for parking and a heliport on the roof.

The new seat of government was built by Becamex IDC at a cost of more than VND1.4 trillion under the BT (build-transfer) model.

The 104,000 sq.m centre will house nearly 60 local agencies' offices, including the province Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee and most departments and sectors in the province.

At the inauguration ceremony, the province granted 23 investment certificates to the new projects and others registering for increased capital with a combined over US$690 million, and announced 12 major projects that will kick off this year.
