CPI expands 0.55% in February

The nation's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in February increased 0.55% compared to January and 4.56% against the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

The nation’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in February increased 0.55% compared to January and 4.56% against the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

Food and restaurant services saw a sharp increase of 1.15% compared to January and a year-on-year soar of 3.34%.

The cost of post and telecommunication services fell by 0.02% and 0.64%, respectively, compared to the previous month.

Beverage and tobacco products expanded by 0.6%, garments, hats and footwear up 0.21%, household utensils up 0.22%, medicines and healthcare services up 0.05%.

However during the Lunar New Year holidays, the transportation services slightly increased 0.66%, cultural, entertainment and tourist products up 0.61%.

The prices of gold went up 1.87% and the US$ went down 0.03% compared to January.
