(ĐN)- On the days leading to the Lunar New Year, Japan’s LIXIL Corp, a global leader in building materials and housing equipment, inaugurated its building material manufacturing plant in Long Thanh district’s Long Duc Industrial Park.

This is one of the biggest project that Dong Nai province attracted in 2013 with the total investment of nearly US$500 million.

Last year, the province held investment promotion programs in Japan, Dubai- an emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), etc which received positive feedback from the businesses.

In 2013, Japan topped the list of 40 countries and territories investing in the province, followed by The Neitherlands and the Republic of Korea.

According to the report from the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, the province lured more than US$1.6 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), increased over 16% over the 2012 figure and doubled the year’s target.

So far, Dong Nai is one of the localities in the country attracted the most capital in FDI projects.

The projects are hi-tech ones and those in the support industry and environmentally friendly which completely suited the province's development orientation in luring foreign investors.

Although exceeding the target of attracting FDI in recent years, Dong Nai only targets luring foreign direct investment (FDI) worth up to 900 million USD this year prior to the high-tech, support industry and environmentally friendly, said Director the provincial Department of Planning and Investment Bo Ngoc Thu.

Dong Nai is undertaking efforts to attract investment for infrastructure development, besides receiving funds from the provincial budget. It also created a healthy and transparent business environment, with administrative reforms and direct support to foreign investors.

The province is expected to be an attractive destination for FDI in the upcoming years.
