The rise was because local farmers have converted nearly 2,000 hectares of unused rice paddies into corn fields.
The report also saw the increase of average corn yield with over 6 tonnes per hectare, 0.1 tonnes per hectare higher than the previous crop year.
The largest cultivation areas in the province included the two districts of Cam My and Xuan Loc.
