(ĐN)- Vice Chairman Tran Van Vinh of the provincial People’s Committee on October 29 had a working session with Lifsap project’s management board to review the implementation progress of the Livestock Competitiveness and Food Safety Project (Lifsap) in the 2012-2015 period.
After nearly 3 years of implementation, the project, financed by World Bank, has established 52 breeding areas under the good husbandry practices, funded to build fresh food areas at markets, biogas tanks and concentrated slaughter-houses.
The project aims to improve the efficiency of household-scale breeders, minimize the impact of processing cattle and fowl on the environment, and raise the standard of food hygiene and safety in the supply chain of animal products.
Addressing at the working session, Vice Chairman Tran Van Vinh stressed that Dong Nai is leading the country in breeding pigs with a total number of 1.4 million pigs, and the number is estimated to increase in the incoming years. Thus, the province needs the financial support from World Bank to continue safety breeding and supply fresh and safety meat to the market.
