Final segment of Long Thanh Bridge connected

(ĐN)- The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) yesterday held a ceremony for connecting Long Thanh Bridge across the Dong Nai river.

(ĐN)- The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) yesterday held a ceremony for connecting Long Thanh Bridge across the Dong Nai river.

Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang and Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai of  Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee attended the ceremony.

The bridge connecting Dong Nai and HCM city measures 2.3km long and 16.7m wide with four traffic lanes.

The construction is part of the component project No. 2 worth more than VND1.2 trillion of the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway project.

HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway is 55 kilometers long, going through HCMC and Dong Nai Province.The expressway has a total investment of over VND18.88 trillion

It is an important section of the north-south expressway project. After completion, it will help connect major economic centers in southern provinces and shorten the routes from HCMC to Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, facilitating goods transport to Cai Mep-Thi Vai port complex.

The expressway project is estimated to open to traffic in 2014.
