The dump site had been piled up for more than 10 years with about 36,000 tons of household garbage, causing serious environmental concerns for residents living around the site.
In February, 2013, Dong Nai Department of Natural Resources and Environment assigned the Advanced International J.S Co. (AIC) to treat the garbage at the site.
Over the past four months, the AIC's waste treatment facility using advanced technology has processed around 15,431 tonnes of garbage, accounting for 43% of the estimated volume.
Vice Chairwoman Phan Thi My Thanh highly appreciated the waste treatment technology at Lien Kim Son dump site and said that this technology will be deployed to other localities across the province.
