Japanese agricultural cooperatives’ product consumption experiences were shared at the November 16 seminar held in Dong Nai.
The event was co-organised by Dong Nai province’s Department of Industry and Trade and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Experts specializing in Japan’s agricultural cooperatives said that coordination among a cooperative’s members, production units, economic sectors, and enterprises is absolutely essential.
The Japanese cooperatives’ coordination success means their products have been rapidly launched on the market, they noted.
Participants also said that it is necessary to replicate the model of exemplary cooperatives in the implementation of economic services such as consumption, the supply of products, and credit services.
Vietnam now has more than 9,000 cooperatives, mostly in the Red River Delta provinces and the northeastern region. The country’s cooperatives are operating under an older model that lacks the all-important strong, central coordination capacity.
