(ĐN)- The domestic gold price saw a sudden increase over the weekend. SJC gold in Bien Hoa city was listed at VND46.1 million per tael for buying and VND46.2 million for selling on September 9, the highest price since early this year.
On the global market, gold jumped to US$1,735/ounce and is likely to rise in the coming days.
Although the gold amount sold by customers was huge, the gold supply was not sufficient due to the large amount of gold bought, which is a reason for the gold price hike.
The domestic gold price is currently around VND3 million/tael higher than that on the world market.
Over the past days, many commercial banks sharply increased the gold interest rate to 1.6 percent per year.
