(ĐN)- Currently, the water-saving grids irrigate nearly 4,500 ha of both industrial and fruit trees in Dong Nai, including coffee, pepper, mango, rambutan and durian crops.
According to the provincial Agricultural Promotion Centre, the grids save 50 percent of water and 80 percent of labour compared to traditional watering hoses.
In addition, fields irrigated by such economical watering systems have experienced increases from 30 to 80 percent in productivity.
Distribution of water is regulated by different sizes of pipelines and valves, depending on the water needs of different trees.
The irrigation system costs, on average, between VND20 and 35 million for every hectare.
