The breeding of cows, buffalos, pigs, chickens and ducks are insured in Dong Nai. Accordingly, the province selects three districts of Xuan Loc, Dinh Quan and Tan Phu to run the pilot program.
So far, 244 poor households have participated in the program.
Speaking at the working session, the selected districts’ representatives said that agricultural insurance regulations need to be revised to encourage more farmers to buy insurance. They also asked the department of finance to adjust the insurance premium rates for different types of pigs and chickens, which they said were too high.
Vice Chairman Tran Minh Phuc suggested the related agencies to make more efforts to deploy effectively the pilot program in coming time.
