According to the report, US$4.85 million was invested into the project in 2011, accounting for 7% of the project’s total capital.
It’s estimated that US$13.3 million will be disbursed for the implementation of the project in 2012.
The US$79 million project, funded by the WB, has been of great benefit to the country’s animal husbandry sector, according to the MoARD.
It aims to improve the efficiency of household-scale breeders, minimize the impact of processing cattle and fowl on the environment, and raise the standard of food hygiene and safety in the supply chain of animal products.
At the conference, the participants believed that the project will improve the competitiveness of households engaged in organic farming.
The project has so far established 45 breeding areas under the good husbandry practices involving nearly 6,000 households.
Under the project, nearly 500 trial biogas tanks and sterilizing pits have been built and 48 slaughterhouses have been constructed.
The design of 64 markets for selling beef and poultry has also been finalized.
