(ĐN) - Japan’s JS Group plans to build a new factory to produce door and window frames in Dong Nai to reduce risks like those faced by Thailand during last year’s historical floods.
The Group is now producing 70% of door and window frames in the country, and 30% in Thailand. However, a factory in Thailand has stopped operating since last October after being badly affected by the flooding. The group has decided to build a new factory in Vietnam where there is plenty of cheap and diligent labour.
The new plant is estimated to cover an area of 55 hectares with a total investment capital of $385 million. It is expected to be operational in mid 2013 and will have a designed capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year, accounting for 10 percent of the group’s total productivity.
At first, the plant’s products will be exported to Japan and later to other Asian countries.
JS group has entered the Vietnamese market since 1998, specializing in manufacturing sanitary ware products with INAX brand. The group plans to raise its total revenues in foreign markets to 1,000 billion of yen by 2016, 25 times higher than last year’s figure.
