Tet cakes go abroad

(ĐN)- More than 20 tonnes of banh chung (square-shaped sticky rice cake wrapped in phrynium leaves), banh tet (cylinder-shaped rice cake wrapped in banana leaves) and banh gai (sweet round cake) of Tran Gia, a traditional Vietnamese square cake producer in Dong Nai province, are on the way to the US and Europe

(ĐN)- More than 20 tonnes of banh chung (square-shaped sticky rice cake wrapped in phrynium leaves), banh tet (cylinder-shaped rice cake wrapped in banana leaves) and banh gai (sweet round cake) of Tran Gia, a traditional Vietnamese square cake producer in Dong Nai province, are on the way to the US and Europe

Tran Thanh Toan, the owner of Tran Gia, says he has already exported to the US 3 tonnes of phrynium leaves, which are used to wrap the square cake.

Toan affirmed that his products are made under strict hygiene and safety standards.

Square and cylindrical sticky rice cakes are used by the Vietnamese at home and overseas to make offerings to their ancestors during the Lunar New Year Festival.
