Dong Nai's CPI up 17.2% in 2011

(ĐN)-  Dong Nai’s consumer price index (CPI) in 2011 rose by 17.2 percent from the previous year, the province’s Statistics Office reported.

The figure is lower than the country's estimated average of 18.13%.

Commodities saw a high increase, including food and catering services, education, transport, housing, electricity, water, fuel supply, construction materials.

However, December had the largest CPI increase in the last three months of the year at 0.43 percent. Increasing demand for goods and services during the Christmas, New Year and Lunar New Year holidays had pushed prices of products up.

The price of education services increased sharply due to the Government's policy to increase school fees.
