There are now some 9 million of chickens in the province and 80 percent of the total chicken population is raised in farms. The number of chickens being raised on farms for meat in the province is 4.5 million, producing over 41,000 tonnes of chicken meat per year while the number of those raised for eggs is 2 million, producing 600 million eggs a year.
