Lang Minh commune eyes bumper rice crop

(ĐN)- Farmers in Xuan Loc district’s Lang Minh commune, Dong Nai province are very happy after enjoying a bumper summer-autumn rice crop, with prices on the increase, they are set to make large profits.

Thanks to the application of scientific technology advances, the selection of high-yield varieties and favourable weather conditions, Lang Minh commune’s summer-autumn crop yield is expected to reach over 70 quintal per hectare on average, an increase of 5-10 quintal per hectare over the same period of last year, farmer Ly Phat Sinh said.

Wet rice is being sold at VND4,600-4,800 a kg, a rise of VND 800-VND 1,000 over last year.

Local farmers have used advanced technologies in agriculture and high-yield crop and most farmers have replaced human labour with machines which helped them to significantly reduce costs and production cost.
