The ministry said almost export items increased in volume and value in comparison with the same period last year. Of which, agricultural products continued to play an important role, with an export turnover of almost US$7 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of nearly 53 per cent, seafood products fetched US$2.6 billion (up 28 per cent) and forestry products gained US$1.9 billion (up 16.8 per cent).
In details, as for key export agricultural products, coffee export reached 913,000 tonnes worth almost US$2 billion, up 45 per cent in volume and a 22.6 per cent increase in value from the same period last year.
The country’s rubber export in the first six months of the year also reached 274,000 tonnes valued at US$1.2 billion, up 12.6 per cent in volume and a 80.7 per cent increase in export turnover year on year.
In Jan-Jun period, the nation also exported nearly 4 million tonnes of rice, earning nearly US$2 billion up 14.8 per cent in volume and a 13.2 per cent increase in value year on year.
Also in the first six months of the year, the country imported US$ 7.6 billion worth of raw materials for agro-forestry and fisheries production, a 17.2 percent increase from the same period last year. The agro-forestry-fishery sector saw a trade surplus of US $4.3 billion in Jan-Jun period.
