Pepper price hits new record high

(ĐN)- The pepper prices in Dong Nai have hit a new record. The latest price is VND115,000-VND116,000 a kilogram for black pepper, up over VND 10,000 compared to the previous week and VND 165,000 a kilogram for white pepper, up over VND 20,0000.

The latest price is VND115,000-VND116,000 a kilogram for black pepper, up over VND 10,000 compared to the previous week and VND 165,000 a kilogram for white pepper, up over VND 20,0000. These prices guaranteed great profit for pepper growers, but the number of households in Dong Nai province having pepper for sale is not much. Most of pepper growers in the province have sold out their products after harvesting.

Dong Nai now has more than 7,000 hectares under pepper cultivation, with an average yield of nearly 2 tons per ha. Pepper cultivation in Dong Nai is largely concentrated in the three districts of Xuan Loc, Cam My, Tan Phu and Long Khanh town. Pepper harvest season will start in February 2011 in Dong Nai.
