(ĐN)- At least 10 tonnes of assorted fish were found dead in Bien Hoa city’s Thong Nhat ward on December 14-16. The fish had been raised in cages by local farmers on the river in the city.

The authorities said the polluted water in the river might have contributed to the death of the fish, some of which have high economic value like dieu hong, chep (carp), and breeding fish, causing estimated losses of around VND1 billion.
Dong Nai Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Department of Aquiculture are now taking water samples of the river to determine the cause of the death of fish.
Earlier, in early June, around 200 tonnes of farmed fish in Bien Hoa city’s Hiep Hoa commune, An Binh, Tan Mai and Thong Nhat wards died, caused a loss of tens of billions of Vietnamese dong.
