Dong Nai is estimated to attract US$950.78 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first 11 months of the year, a 75 percent year-on-year increase, according to Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority

Dong Nai is estimated to attract US$950.78 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first 11 months of the year, a 75 percent year-on-year increase, according to Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority.

The figure includes US$82.9 million in registered capital from 32 newly-licensed projects and over US$ 867 million of additional capital from 55 existing projects.

The service sector presently accounts for only 5 percent of the province’s total projects with the majority of projects belonging to supporting industry and machinery manufacturering; the number of projects employing large workforces has fallen while hi-tech projects are on the increase, said Director of Dong Nai Department of Planning and Investment Bo Ngoc Thu. 

The province is expected to lure more than US$1.5 billion in FDI in 2010, including the newly registered funds and extra capital from operational projects, and FDI disbursement will reach US$800 million this year,

Dong Nai is now home to 980 valid FDI projects with a total registered capital of US$18.68 billion.
