DOFICO signs a series of memoranda of understanding on development co-operation in the industrial and agricultural complex project with contractors under the witness of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai
(ĐN)- Work was started on an industrial and agricultural complex at a cost of approximately VND 1.96 trillion in Xuan Loc district’s Xuan Thanh commune in Dong Nai province on September 19.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh and the provincial leaders attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
Dong Nai Food Industry Corporation (DOFICO), as the project owner said the project would be constructed in two phases with the first phase expected to be completed in 2013 and the second phase expected to start after 2013.
The project will cover 2,187 hectares in Thong Nhat and Xuan Loc districts. The total investment in the first phase of the project is over VND 1.4 trillion.
Once fully operational, the Industrial and Agricultural Complex will be capable of providing 1 million pigs with lean meat to the market per year.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said that 50 per cent of agricultural exports remained unprocessed products. As a result, competitiveness of majority of agricultural products are still low and the living conditions of farmers remain difficult. Hai also said this project will play an important role in improving the quality and increasing competitiveness of agricultural products.
