One of the six new ODA projects, Giap Bat-Gia Lam railway route in the capital city would begin today, said the Viet Nam Railway Corporation.
JBIC gave a 4.68 billion yen ($47 million) loan to the Vietnamese for technical issues and design for the project.
The $1.2 billion largely elevated railway will span 15km with 10.57km elevated.
The project will also include the construction of four new national railway stations in Ngoc Hoi, Giap Bat, Gia Lam and Ha Noi as well as six more elevated stations in the city to meet the demand of both national and city trains.
The project is one part of the Yen Vien-Ngoc Hoi elevated railway system with a total capital of $1.7 billion, which aims to develop urban transport in the capital city.
