Taiwan has become the largest foreign investor in Vietnam, according to Vietnamese investment authorities

Taiwan has become the largest foreign investor in Vietnam, according to Vietnamese investment authorities.

Up to now, total investment from the East Asian island into Vietnam has topped US$7.6 billion, the Ministry of Planning and Investment said.

In the first eight months of this year, local authorities have licensed 95 Taiwanese-invested projects with a total value of nearly US$231 million, the ministry said.

The increase comes as more and more Taiwanese companies consider Vietnam an attractive regional destination for investment, according to economic experts.

Recently, a senior Taiwanese official predicted that investment from Taiwan into Vietnam would surge past US$11 billion over the next three or four years.
