(ĐN) – On September 7, an inspecting delegation headed by Mr. Park Bok Young, researcher of Korean foreign economic policies under Department of Inspection on Republic of Korea (RoK)s Official Development Assistance (ODA) paid a visit to Dong Nai. The visit aimed at inspecting how to use of ODA capital source from RoK for Thien Tan Water Plant, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province.
The Thien Tan Water Plant project in the first stage was supported by ODA loan from RoK worth US$39 million. The ODA loan would be repaid in twenty-five years at an interest rate of 2.5%. The project has started since September 2000 and completed at the first stage in April 2004. It was designed with its capacity of 100,000 cubic meters a day. Until now, the plant has reached 65% of the design capacity (equal to 65,000 cubic meters a day). 20% of Thien Tan Plant’s total water supply meets the needs of approximately 25000 residents in Bien Hoa city while the rest of that provides for the neighbouring industrial zones (IZs). By 2006, the plant is expected to hit full capacity that enables it to meet water demand both of all residents and IZs around Bien Hoa city. In the next time, Thien Tan Water Plant will deploy its second stage if it continues to receive ODA loan from RoK. Accordingly, the plant will be able to supply water to IZs throughout Long Thanh and Nhon Trach districts.
Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Peoples’ Committee Dang Thi Kim Nguyen took this opportunity to highly appreciate kind assistance from RoK government which disbursed ODA loan to Thien Tan Water Plant project. She also expected further efforts made by RoK government to supply continued grant aid to projects that include the second stage of The Thien Tan Water Plant, water supply and drainage systems … Mr. Park Bok Young praised efforts made by Dong Nai in utilizing Korean ODA loans for Thien Tan Water Plant. He also promised to honor all requests from local government.
