The Dong Nai Department of Health has issued Plan No. 248/KH-SYT, dated June 16, 2026, to implement the Dong Nai City People’s Committee’s Plan No. 20/KH-UBND on socio-economic development for the 2026-2030 period.

Accordingly, the city’s healthcare sector aims to build a fair, high-quality, efficient, and sustainable healthcare system; strengthen the capacity of grassroots and preventive healthcare; improve the quality of medical examination and treatment at all levels; and accelerate digital transformation and the application of science and technology in the healthcare sector.

One notable target is that from 2026, 100% of the population in Dong Nai will receive a periodic health check-up or free screening at least once a year. Following each check-up, residents will have electronic health records established or updated to manage their health throughout their lives, contributing to early disease detection, reducing medical costs, and improving quality of life.

By 2030, the healthcare sector aims to achieve an average life expectancy of 77.67 years, with at least 68 years in good health. The vaccination rate for vaccines under the Expanded Program on Immunization will be maintained at above 95%. Meanwhile, the health insurance coverage rate is expected to reach 100%, with the goal of achieving universal health coverage.

To strengthen primary healthcare capacity, Dong Nai aims to ensure that by 2030, all commune- and ward-level health stations are adequately equipped and staffed to meet operational requirements. By 2027, each health station will have 4-5 doctors, and the proportion of medical examination and treatment services covered by health insurance at the grassroots level will exceed 20%.

The healthcare sector is also focusing on developing high-quality human resources, with a target of reaching 13-15 doctors and 25 nurses per 10,000 people by 2030. The city will study plans to establish a medical training branch campus or attract investment in healthcare workforce training in Phuoc Thai commune, helping to meet workforce demand in Dong Nai and neighboring localities.
