Cultivating Vietnam-Cambodia friendship through Tboung Khmum visit during traditional New Year festival

On April 10, a Dong Nai provincial delegation, led by Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC), and a Tay Ninh provincial delegation, led by Le Van Han, Deputy Secretary of the PPC and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, paid a New Year visit to Tboung Khmum province (Kingdom of Cambodia) on the occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year festival.

Pen Kosal, Member of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, Chairman of the Provincial Cambodian People's Party, and Governor of Tboung Khmum province; and Long Theam, Chairman of the Provincial Council; along with the heads of agencies, units, and armed forces of Tboung Khmum province received and worked with the visiting delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of Tboung Khmum province, Governor Pen Kosal thanked the leaders of Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces for their visit to extend the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year greetings. This is not only a ceremonial meeting but also a reunion of a big family of fraternal neighbors who have shared difficulties and accompanied each other in development for many decades.

Pen Kosal said that over the years, Tboung Khmum province and Dong Nai and Tay Ninh provinces have always been good friends and good partners, respecting peaceful coexistence in fine traditional friendship. The provinces have strengthened cooperative ties in several fields, including trade, tourism, healthcare, education, etc. This has facilitated goods trade and cultural exchanges between the peoples of the two countries, contributing to improved livelihoods and economic development of each country.

In recent years, the cooperative relationship between Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, and Tboung Khmum provinces has achieved many noteworthy results. The three provinces have coordinated closely in maintaining border security and order, building a border line of friendship and cooperation, while promoting the sustainable development of cultural exchange activities, trade fairs, and gatherings on the occasion of important festivals. These initiatives have become cultural bridges that have strengthened the ties, solidarity, and mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries.

On the occasion of the 2026 traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year festival, on behalf of Dong Nai and Tay Ninh provinces, Le Van Han, Deputy Secretary of the Tay Ninh PPC and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, wished the leaders and people of Tboung Khmum Province a happy, peaceful, and prosperous new year. He also expressed his hope that the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia in general and between the Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Tboung Khmum border provinces in particular would continue to be enduring and sustainable for future generations.

The successful conclusion of the Dong Nai delegation's visit to extend Chol Chnam Thmay New Year greetings left a profound impression on the close-knit ties between the two peoples.
