Fuel prices continue to rise sharply, surpassing 27,000 VND per liter

On the afternoon of March 7, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance adjusted retail fuel prices. Prices of gasoline and petroleum products continued to rise due to impacts from unpredictable fluctuations in global fuel prices.

Accordingly, from 3 p.m., the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by 3,777 VND per liter to 25,226 VND per liter; RON 95 gasoline increased by 4,707 VND per liter, with a maximum retail price of 27,047 VND per liter. Similarly, the price of diesel increased by 7,202 VND per liter to 30,239 VND per liter. Notably, kerosene rose by 8,490 VND per liter to 35,091 VND per liter, while mazut increased by 3,831 VND per kilogram, with a maximum retail price of 21,327 VND per kilogram.

Thus, domestic retail gasoline prices have risen sharply for three consecutive price adjustments. Since the beginning of the year, gasoline prices have increased seven times and fallen four times.

Earlier, on the morning of March 7, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) issued Urgent Official Dispatch No. 587/TTTN-XD on the timing of fuel price management in accordance with Government Resolution No. 36/NQ-CP dated March 6, 2026.

The Government agreed to allow the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take the lead, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, in adjusting fuel prices immediately when the base price of one of the commonly consumed petroleum products in the market increases by 7% compared with the previous adjustment period. The announcement of the base price and retail fuel prices will be made after the base price increases by 7%.

Price adjustments will continue to be carried out in accordance with Clause 11, Article 1 of Decree No. 80/2023/ND-CP, with adjustments made every Thursday, in cases where the base price increases by less than 7%.
