In recent years, the Border Guard (BG) of the Dong Nai province has advised the BG High Command, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People’s Committee on many solutions to build and firmly consolidate a peaceful, friendly, stable, and developing border.
Contributing to these overall achievements are effective models and creative approaches being implemented by the BG to strengthen the national defense posture, the border defense posture, and the posture of people’s hearts and minds in border areas. Thanks to this, local residents have a firm support system in the officers and soldiers of the BG, enabling them to live and work with peace of mind.
Effective models
Colonel Pham Van Dang, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command and Political Commissar of the Provincial BG Command, said that over the past 10 years, the Provincial BG effectively implemented models, programs, and movements involving the BG in participating in economic, cultural, and social development in the province’s border areas in the 2015-2025 period. This has raised educational levels, improved healthcare, implemented social welfare policies, and strengthened the posture of people’s hearts and minds in border regions.

A typical example is the “Nurturing Students to School – Adopted Children of BG Posts” program, which has been effectively implemented by BG stations, agencies, and units. The case of Phan Hoang Bao Long, who has been cared for by Loc Thanh BG Station since September 2021, is a vivid example.
Bao Long comes from a particularly difficult family background. He lost his mother at age four, while his father, a freelance worker, had to work far away. Bao Long lives with his paternal grandparents, who are elderly, often ill, and have unstable income. Through contributions from officers and soldiers, Loc Thanh BG Station has supported Bao Long with an average of VND 1 million per month. At the same time, officers have been assigned to directly monitor, mentor, and coordinate with his family and school in the process of nurturing and educating Long, helping him to make progress in his studies and training with good results.
Up to now, Bao Long is in grade 9 at Loc Thanh Primary and Secondary School. He is always diligent and well-behaved, achieving good and excellent academic results. Notably, Bao Long has also shown musical talent, a love for the arts, and active participation in cultural and artistic activities organized by the school and the BG post, where he has been highly appreciated.
In addition to the above program, models, such as BG Loudspeaker, Border Lesson, Breeding cows and goats for the poor, Jar of Compassionate Rice, For Community Health, Shelter for the poor in border areas, and Comradeship House have also been implemented by BG posts with measurable results.
Accordingly, more than 480 lessons have been held, attracting over 10,400 students and teachers, and more than 5,000 educational materials have been distributed. Through vivid and visual lessons, the Border Lesson model has contributed to fostering patriotism, raising awareness of territorial sovereignty, and nurturing the sense of responsibility among the younger generation toward the cause of building and protecting the national border.
The “Green Army Rank” Teacher program continues to affirm its profound humanitarian significance in literacy eradication, universalization of education, and raising public awareness among people in border areas. BG posts have directly opened 12 literacy classes for more than 400 participants, organized supplementary education and compassion classes for over 200 poor children, and encouraged 85 children to attend school. Through the program, more than 500 women and children have learned to read and write, gradually changing their mindset and practices, building a progressive cultural life, and contributing to maintaining stability in the area.
Maintaining the border belt
At the recent conference to commend, honor, and review models, programs, and projects involving the BG to participate in economic, cultural, and social development in border areas, Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command and Commander of the Provincial BG Command, acknowledged, praised, and highly appreciated the results of the models, programs, and projects implemented by the BG over the past 10 years. At the same time, he affirmed that these models, programs, and projects have contributed to strengthening the connection and developing the economy, culture, society, and social welfare in border communes in the area and are solutions to continue firmly consolidating the border belt and building a peaceful, friendly, stable, and developing frontier.
Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc requested that the Party Committee and the Provincial BG Command continue to thoroughly disseminate to officers, soldiers, and units the need to further promote the discovery and replication of models, programs, and projects associated with socio-economic development in border localities. Thereby, contributing to firmly consolidating the grassroots political system in border areas, building the posture of people’s hearts and minds strongly, and joining hands with the BG to effectively perform the task of managing and protecting national border sovereignty and security.
Over 10 years of implementing models, programs, and projects involving the BG in economic, cultural, and social development, officers and soldiers of the Dong Nai BG have built many effective models and creative approaches. Among them, 22 exemplary models, programs, and projects have been and are being implemented, thereby continuing to firmly consolidate the border defence posture, and the posture of people’s hearts and minds in border areas, joining hands to build a safe, stable, and sustainably developing border belt.
In reality, over the past 10 years of implementation, these models, programs, and projects have mobilized great resources to support, consolidate, and build strong and stable frontier and border areas. For example, the programs Shelter for the Poor in Border Areas and Comradeship House have built 55 houses and presented hundreds of gifts and 120 civil works to serve people in border villages and hamlets, with a total value of more than VND8 billion.
Receiving a great solidarity house donated by the BG, Non-commissioned Border Officer Vo Ngoc Hoang, a soldier of Loc Tan BG Station who had housing difficulties, emotionally shared, "Having a spacious and solid house helps my parents have a stable place to live, and I can also feel secure in my work and dedication.” Programs such as Warm Border Spring for Villagers, Border Spring, and All-People Border Defense Festival, together with social welfare programs and projects, have supported more than 2.1 thousand breeding livestock and poultry, VND3.6 billion in loans for women’s union members, 99 livelihood models helping poor women develop their economy, 50 houses of compassion, and have donated more than 300 tons of rice, many scholarships, and thousands of gifts to ethnic minority students and people in the province’s eight border communes.
These results continue to promote the core and specialized role of the BG in managing and protecting national border sovereignty and security; firmly consolidating the political base; developing the economy, culture, and society; eradicating hunger and reducing poverty; and gradually improving the material and spiritual life of the people, thereby contributing to building peaceful, stable, strong, and developing border areas.
